Racial Equity

Our Work to Advance Racial Equity

Black Women’s Blueprint administers a culturally relevant information and resource center committed to solutions that make a real structural cultural change that benefit communities and people. Our Center facilitates training, collaboration and communication steeped in social justice movements and integral to the continued strength and sustainability of the work of organizers, activists, and organizations. In growing partnerships, strengthening relationships, and convening to identify promising practices and emerging trends, our approach to structural cultural change lays the foundation for trainees to better tap the transformative power of moving beyond “cultural competency” to interrupt inequity and create structures that produce and sustain justice. Racial equity refers to the conditions in which race or ethnicity no longer predicts a person’s ability to live a healthy life. It requires that society be free of systems and structures that unfairly disadvantage people of color.

Training

Our training offerings focus on bringing about health equity and break the mold of traditional diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) programs as our approach centers individual, group as well as institutional transformation and racial healing. Our organizational development approach focuses on operationalizing DEI, building individual and organizational intercultural capacity, and fully integrating DEI within an organization’s community, culture and civic engagement. This holistic approach to operationalizing and building capacity are critical for long-term impact, sustainability and success in becoming an anti-racist institution.

Advocacy

We advance racial and gender justice, centering and supporting women’s leadership. We empower the field and various sectors to build a broad movement for racial and economic equity with medical personnel and public health administrators. We have a significant focus on Black women with a particular emphasis on low-wage women, survivors of gender-violence, the rights of child-bearing persons to access to food, eliminating racial and gender disparities, accountability and enforcement through public policy.
